Hi, my name is

Ted.

I actually see customers using things that I developed, and that is very rewarding. I also have the freedom to identify areas that need improvement - and improve them.

Why Epic?

I had a few friends who worked at Epic. They talked about Epic here and there, and made me interested in learning more. When I came to Madison to visit, I was amazed. After learning more about Epic and the company culture and philosophy, I knew I wanted to be here.

What projects have you tackled at Epic?

My biggest project has been working on getting our system ready for an overhaul of the medical coding system. It was a company-wide effort that required coordination across many developers. I worked on developing the core infrastructure, code, and libraries that were used by the rest of the company.

What makes you excited to come to work every day?

What gets me excited is knowing that I am directly developing software and functionality that customers depend on. After a few years, I actually started seeing customers using things that I developed, and that is very rewarding. I also have the freedom to identify areas that need improvement - and improve them.

What could a typical day look like for you?

My day is spent working on projects ranging from programming to working on designs and mockups to working on presentations. I like to spend lunch with my friends.

What's your advice to new employees?

Don't hesitate to ask questions or to dig for information, and don't assume that the veterans are always correct. Sometimes a fresh perspective can make a big difference.
