I was working at a business on the decline, and one of the reasons I joined Epic was that it was a company moving in exactly the opposite direction. From my very first visit, I sensed a vibe of energy and excitement and wanted to be a part of it.
I started in Quality Assurance, and in that role I had the opportunity to help create a new product - our HIM application suite. Once a few customers started implementing HIM, I moved over to the project management role and never looked back. I've worked with many of our HIM customers in places like Minnesota, Michigan, California, and many more. I've also worked in sales, demoing the software to organizations considering using Epic, and in general project management roles.
Bringing my first customer completely live was a fantastic experience; we created one of the first HIM departments to be fully live using a electronic Medical Record, and within months they were seeing productivity gains beyond their expectations.
I'm passionate about ideas. My customer, my co-worker, or me - we can all have ideas about how our systems can help solve problems, create opportunities and enhance jobs and lives, and we can literally reach out to one another and bring those ideas to life. It's kind of amazing when I think about it. Learning how to do this at Epic has helped me understand how I can make ideas a reality in other areas of my life as well.
"Typical" is a flexible term for me. I'd say the things I can usually count on are a high likelihood of air travel, a lot of time spent in interesting conversations with really smart people, and a guarantee I'll be working on some things I never would have guessed a week earlier :)
