What are the projects you've worked on and what role did you play?

I started at Epic on the EDI (interface) team where I got to wear many hats (development, implementation, support). I moved from EDI to Radiology Technical Services, where I had the opportunity to help organize the support team for a relatively new radiology product. I recently transitioned from TS to development for the Radiology product, where I currently play an integral role in developing the product design and direction.

What results have you achieved for our customers and for you?

The results have varied based upon the role. On the interface team, I was able to successfully implement and support several large integrated projects. In Radiology Technical Services, I was able to focus on management of many team members as well as improving the customer support structure. Now in Radiology Development I have developed a newer application that is preliminarily ranked as number 1 in the industry.

What's your favorite project to date at Epic?

I'm leading our Radiologist Happiness project at Epic. While this project has been very challenging, I've enjoyed working closely with Radiologists to observe their workflows and translate them into improving the product. The project needs insight and courage to hear what the Radiologist say, as well as a big-picture view to lead our team in developing the product to fit Radiologists' workflows better.

What does your typical week look like?

I don't really have a typical week-which is half the fun. When I'm in the office, I focus a lot of my time working with my team on development project design. The other portion revolves around calls with installing or live Radiology customers and other healthcare vendors. I finish off my work week working on my own "pet" development projects. When I'm not in the office, I travel to customer sites to see how the Radiology product is working for our customers, talking to their project team and end users about how the software is helping with their Radiology department.
