Role at Epic

Technical Services

Background

Hometown: I grew up in India.
Education: MS in Industrial Engineering, University of Wisconsin

Why did you choose to join Epic?

Of course I had a lot of the common considerations as others. But when I was comparing offers, Epic's mission statement jumped out at me. "Do Good, Have Fun, Make Money". Simple, yet elevating. It was very refreshing to me - I felt like as last a company has got its priorities right. Though I was accepting a job offer, I felt like I was signing up for a cause.

What is life like at Epic?

The people - it's truly rewarding to work with such a diverse, talented, driven set of people. And everyone cares deeply for each other's success. Team spirit is not a cliché at Epic - it is a way of life.

The environment - Epic trusts you with real responsibilities and empowers you with the independence to get the job done. Along the way you make mistakes but in an environment where the focus is on fixing the problem and not the blame; we learn from our mistakes rather than dwell on them.

Personal growth - Epic has provided me with ample opportunities to apply my biggest strengths to the fullest extent. I especially appreciated the opportunity to shoulder management responsibilities so early on in my career. Talent, not tenure gets rewarded here.

What are the projects you've worked on and what role did you play?

I have worked with healthcare organizations from 9 different states in the US and one in Canada helping them successfully navigate through significant industry initiatives like HIPAA compliance in billing and NPI implementation. The successful execution of these projects were critical to the financial strength and stability of these organizations; their financial health is key to the physical health of the communities they serve.

What results have you achieved for our customers and for you?

Given the cost pressures in healthcare, there is a constant challenge to do more with less. Harnessing the power of technology and electronic data interchange I have helped our customers increase efficiency, improve accuracy and strengthen their financial metrics. These results and the appreciation our customers show for my role in achieving them gives me a tremendous sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. After six years, it still feels more like a cause than a job.

What interests do you have outside of work?

Music. I'm trained in Indian classical music and have been singing all my life. A highlight of my singing career is performing at Epic's 25th anniversary dinner party. I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to contribute my culture and talent to this landmark event at Epic.
